Come make a splash with the Dive Team! Registration for Dive Team will be held Sunday, April 30, 2007. No experience is necessary and all age children are welcome to join the team. There is a particular need on the team for divers age 9 and up. Practices take place every afternoon after school, weather permitting.

The Westleigh Dive Team participates in the Montgomery County Dive League (MCDL). "The MCDL Mission is to promote the safety, fun, and learning of the sport of Springboard Diving through instructional practice and age-level competition." - MCDL We are proud to be a part of MCDL's 22 year tradition.

In the summer of 2007, divers will compete against other children of the same age in several categories: 10 and Under, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18. The divers learn the basic front and back jumps and dives, and then the more complicated somersault, reverse, inward and twisting dives. Points are awarded to the teams for their first-, second-, and third-place finishes within each age group. We hope to see some new faces this year, as well as returning divers!

The Montgomery County Dive League does not enforce any requirements for team suits. However, for those wishing to have a team identity, we ordinarily use the same suit as the Westleigh Dive Team. For summer 2007, the suit is "Live Wire" from Underwater Wear in Gaithersburg. Use of the suits is optional. However, for those with boys, the long loose trunks can be a problem when performing tucks, so jams (the longer spandex boys' suits) may be preferable. You can download an order form here.
